Huge DSLRs and tele lenses

No more than guys with taped up rangefinders and f/0.95 lenses compensating for deficits in some *other* areas...

No not at all, it's just that we don't want to look unbalanced when shooting with our clothes off.
It's also probably got something to do with handling what you are used to, size wise I mean:)
 
It depends.

If it's a guy shooting pro sports, or part of a scrum in a huge news event that's national in scope, etc. -- then he's just a professional using the right tools for the job.

Just maybe they are using the correct set of tools to do their job professionally. ;)

I agree. A pointless thread. Big zooms are mostly a case of using the right tool for the right job. As good as rangefinders are for some things there are places they just don't work...
 
HMmm.. I wonder what the OP thinks about photographers with Pentax 67's and Mamiya 67's then? They make dslr's look like play things!
 
Am I the only one who expected this to be a poll?

My answer: if the camera was truly compensating, then the shutter button wouldn't be so d@mn sensitive.
