No worse than picking up the kids from school or doing the shopping in one of those bloody great SUV's.
US motorists (and others) have been driving vehicles several times larger than they actually need for so long we've come to accept it.

Are people who post lots on RFF trying to compensate for deficiencies in other areas?
Or is it just that it's easy relaxation from other things?

They say that men drive big trucks/SUVs to compensate for some... other areas, but it's usually the women who drive these massive things.
