The 13.5cm 1:4.5 Leitz Hektor (codeword HEFAR) catalogued 1933-1960 (approximately) exists in many variations. Black finish ( dull matte or glossy),
apertures to f32 or f36, chrome (silver) finish, vulcanite at base of focusing mount, click stops, A36 or E39 filter mount, parallel or rotary focusing, etc.
There is one variant that seems to be particularly elusive. It is from 1947-1949 and features a lightweight gloss black or silver aluminum focusing mount. The base is usually covered with the textured “sharkskin” vulcanite. Later samples employ “regular” vulcanite.
When did the aperture change from f36 to f32?
When did the vulcanite covering begin?
These changes undoubtedly lie within the following serial numbers.
608001-609000
617001-618000
637001-638000
644101-645000
655001-657000
699001-701000
715001-718000
824001-826000

I was always under the impression that was a lousy lens. I have one but probably in the 1953 range. And I don't find it all that lousy:
