I sold my I-22 and I-50, which i now regret... does anyone have opinions on the I-22 or I-50 or Fed-50? I really like the 22 and 50, they seemed about the same... i want one back!

i actually like them better than my elmar 50/3.5

thanks!

You are not alone in the impression that the I-22 or I-50 have something in them which makes them "better" than the original Elmar.

Get the I-22 or I-50 for trouble free use. Again, many users can't tell the differences between what one lens does over the other. The FED-10 (FED-50)
is also OK, but many of the early ones don't have standard focal registers or even lens camming. The later, purple-coated ones however do quite well. If you could find one with the short, stubby focussing tab, get it. This is certainly one of the later collapsible FED-10, from a time when the focal register and camming measurements have long become standard.

I like my FED 50/3.5 better than my Elmar 50/3.5. Though to be fair, the former is in better condition than the later. My FED 50/3.5 is a late "purple" coated one.

I went with the FED 50 over the I-22 or the I-50 as I hear they don't fit well on FED 2b cameras. Something about the focusing tab on the collapsible Industars scraping against the body. The FED 50 doesn't have a spring loaded knob on the infinity lock, but rather the focusing tab just kind of snaps over a bump that serves as the infinity lock.

one of my favourites photos made by myself was taken with an I-22 on a Zorki-S. The lens is exceptional, I think it's now somewhere in California now :D
