Yay! Just recieved my new 40.5mm Vented hood from American Eagle camera on E*ay. Fits the I-61L/D great, and now I don't have to worry so much about flare. Good quality build, feels like machined aluminum, inside is ribbed and fits a 55mm plastic snapcap, so you don't have to take it off every time you want to cover it for a bit. (Of course, dust can still get in the vents, so long term may be a different story!)

They're fantastic, aren't they? I think I went mad and bought two 39s and two 40.5s.

I don't know why (shape? thickness? material?), but they're very resistant to being bent out of shape. Haven't managed it yet, and my hoods bash into walls all the time (camera on shoulder).

They're better than some of my old skool Nikon hoods, which is saying something.

I use one on my CV 35/1.7, and it doesn't appear to vignette.

americaneagle_camera -- Great seller, shipped it off pretty quick... Sent it airmail from Florida back on April 17th, shortly after I paid.

Anyone know if thier 39mm Hood will fit on a 40/2 Summicron-C?

William

Here are some pics of how it all comes together, along with my Minolta UV filter
