Hey, that's my IIIg/LTM Summaron combo. You copied it from Flickr no doubt, but it would've been nice if you had said so. Here's the link:

BTW, as much as I like the IIIg I concur with otheres here that the IIIc/IIIfs are the betterr lookers.
Thanks for clarifying that, I thought he was buying your camera!

Did you recognize it as my camera Ron? BTW, it's indeed the real LTM version Summaron with the 1m shortest focus distance. I also had the dual mount, but sold it. That's still nagging a little...

My M5s need red dots!
RFF: where the M2 is called the "modern camera"
What a beauty indeed. Yum.
If this were a post in Facebook, I'd be hitting the "like" button very enthusiastically.

yep, I thought I had seen the picture before and as with most of your camera pictures it was the cam in combination with that wooden background
btw I have sold my convertible too, and ´am currently thinking of selling the M-mount also just leaving the ltm - which I use mostly on my Zorki's.
Btw the M mount is in mint condition and comes in orginal box. It was made during the last year of production.

I would love to keep it too, like to convertible, but I have to many camera's and lenses, so have to sell off before even thinking of buying new stuff (btw still after a black J3)

Beautiful, I have had a IIIf for fifty years now, and every time I pick it up I think of Mick Jagger. He sang, 'she makes me cry and I don't know the reason why.' Correct me if I am wrong.

You can still buy the M7 and MP brand new from Leica.

Thanks, another reason to ignore anything you see/read on the www.

I know that M cameras are better. Probably I will never trade my M3 because I am in croatia and here is hard to find someone to trade. But one day I will buy IIIg...it is beautiful camera

Nup. Kept the M AND got the IIIG.
Very nice camera and I enjoy using it, but when you need to work quick under uncertain conditions, an M is better. Especially one with a built-in meter (I'm not that much of a purist...).

Funny, I thought the top plate of the IIIf/IIIc looked a little inelegant with that one-piece casting. Perhaps that is my prewar bias showing.Eh, personally I've always thought the IIIg looked just a little inelegant compared to the IIIf with self-timer. The larger viewfinder may be an improvement over that of its predecessors but it does ruin the lines of the top plate.

LTM Summaron on IIIb, and I do have the lovely V/C metal VF (in chrome, of course).

Steve...I did not..I held other Barrnacks cameras but not this combination...and I had summaron f2.8 but in M mount
Goran, I have a IIIf and a IIIc, but they are no match to any M when it comes to using on the street or elsewhere. Most of the time they are a pain as you need to reframe after a cumbersome focusing process each time. The only way -and that's since decades- I found them to be used properly is by adding a 35 or 50mm finder and zone-focusing (that's why the M-series were introduced). However they are lovely... and you can not part with them easily

All leica LTM cameras are lovely and admirable craftsmanship. I am also a big fan of leica IIIG. If you can find one in reasonable price range, it's definitely collect value than a IIIC/F or even a Leica M2/3.
But I insist to use a 50mm lens on the IIIG most of the time, that's how it's designed to be.
a 35mm? You need a 35mm finder, which is very expensive.

It's a beautiful camera. I have the iiif set up pictured in my avatar. I love the "mechanical jewel"ness of the iiif, and I bought it to slow myself down from the DSLR shooting I do for work. But for me I found it to be a bit too slow. The focusing is more difficult, and focusing through one window and framing through another, takes a bit of time and practice. Found I had to ask folks to give me a minute to focus, and some who are used to being photographed with a point and shoot or DSLR, didn't deal as well with the slowness of the iiif.
But they are beautiful.
Best,
-Tim
