I am off to meet with Professor Noam Chomsky!

I am being unofficialy the link person between The publisher Springer and Noam Chomsky's office to see if he is willing to contribute a biography narrative of some sort to Springer. "There are several individuals writing bigrraphies on Professor Chonsky", I was told, but I tried to convince them that it would be a write-up that Professor Chomsky himslef.
The link between Germany Springer and ChoMsky via Miami?
Eager to know how this was accomplished.

His Assistant (Bev) use dmy IPhone to take these two quick snapshots.

Try to stay away from being extreme in your views. Some would say that the two Bush Presidents were criminal in their war acts, and others may say they were heroes. I am not going to judge them at RFF. It would be the wrong forum.

This thread is simply about a meeting between a well known scholar and a less known researcher (I), and not about a promotion or endorsement or accusation or anything else.
Millions of people have heard of Professor Noam Chomsky all over the world, and he is adored by these millions. Some, dislike his political views. So what.

Calm down.

Perfectly right, Raid.
I'll erase my posts which are irrelevant.

No need to erase your message, Michael.

Thanks sir, but really, why would I rain on your parade? 🙂
You were happy to meet someone you admire, and nice enough to share it with us. all the rest, in particular my opinion on Mr Chomsky is irrelevant.

I hope you had a great time. 😉

Michael,
"My parade" is always rained on, so I have no problem with some rain. it is good for the lawn, and without rain, life would be dry.

I was given the regular 25 minute meeting times for Professor Chomsky by his Assistant, Bev. She seems to be quite serious about keeping people to the set time limits. Once I arrived to the floor eight of the MIT building where Noam Chomsky has his office, I was spotted by Bev. We had a brief chat, after which I was asked to go to Dr. Chomsky's office. I brought with me lunch for both of us, and I placed it on a small circular shaped table. Then, professor Chosmky entered his office, as he was still in someone else's office when I arrived. He welcomed me with a warm smile, and he asked me to sit at the table. he took a good look at the beef skewers and at the two small containers of pickled beans, plus two containers filled with stuffed grape leaves, and he smiled. He asked me "what are you expecting me to do for such a lunch?"

He then told me that he eats very small portions of feed, so he never ate the beef or the stuffed grape leaves (which I asked him to take home for his wife). He asked me about life in Iraq, and he kept asking me about specific things about Iraq. At one stage, he looked stunned at my answer to a certain question. He then asked me for a reference! It seems that everything must be published somewhere for him to accept as facts. I told him that certain things people could not publish or even talk about publicly or they would be killed or taken away.

Time was flying by so quickly, and suddenly Bev opened the door to his office, announcing to me "I am sorry, but you have passed the set time limit by quite a lot.". I then asked for permission for a quick snapshot, and then Bev took two photos of me and Dr. Chomsky.

I asked him if he and I could continue our discussion via email, to which he said YES. Bev then confirmed this fact a few minutes later as she walked me out.

I had no special expectations from this brief visit, and I left satisfied for having asked to meet with him.
