Its been a while I was on a vintage Nikon non AI SLR kick for a while. I am toying with the Olympus 35 SP, I see them on the bay and I am following a particular auction. Questions as follows: what is fair market value for one of these puppies? I am well aware of the battery issue and my techie and deal with that. The biggie is what issues should I be aware of when looking at one of these beasties. I am intrigued with the metering and I like the fast if somewhat not quite wideangle lens.

There is no healing that. No stopping it. I've tried everything - even cutting up my credit cards, locking my money away, EVERYTHING. And still I buy.

The main challenge is what should I be looking for in an Oly 35 SP? And, more importantly what would be a sane bid be on one of these puppies? I may have some GAS but I don't want to blow my brains out either.

Bill: I've been tracking the auctions, and I may pop the numbers into a spreadsheet. They've gone from about $41 to $170 (USD), depending on condition, phase of the moon, vagaries of oBoy, etc. Unless you are assured of getting a recently CLA'd sample, buy locally with inspection/trial, etc., count on a CLA, which will run about $80-90.

Well the Oly 35 SP was not meant to be, I got sniped in the last 3 seconds. Not all was bad news though minutes later I did win a Canonet QL17 GIII which will become my brother's 35th birthday present. Since he is tempting me with the world of TLR photography, I am returning the favour with the Canonet. I have owned mine for about a year now and I am really happy with it.
