I personally would have preferred the black chrome m4, as BC grows scarcer by the day, while painted cameras grow more numerous. But I suppose an advantage of painted cameras is that, if you don't care for the look as the paint wears away, you can simply repaint it.

I sent a painted baseplate (graphite black Cerakote) to a client to compare vs black chrome. Here is his report:

"Here are two comparison photos with your sample and a new black chrome M7 base plate. Yours is slightly more matte and leans gray compared to the Leica finish. But they are very close and without a side-by-side comparison, I don't think anyone could tell it wasn't original."
