I really do... it started simply with a great old Yashica GSN, I thought... can they possibly be right - a $20 camera is that good??? YIKES! It's great! Sharp and contrasty and super easy to focus and use - this is probably a rangefinder insult but it reminds me of my old Olympus OM10 but much easier & faster to focus critically.
So... of course the logic goes, if they were right about that ... maybe two IS better than one and the GT is sooo sexy... yes, I know... so I picked up a GT as well - who needs that hot-synch.
Now, you really need to help me, because I read a little further and I just HAD to check out an Olympus 35SP - which I have not run film through yet but seems great as well, I can't wait! Bright rangefinder, meter works, wow.
The amazing thing about all of this to me is that, including shipping, I have ALL THREE for less than $130, and they are all great cameras as nearly as I can tell.
I am going to stop now though, I have to take some time to use them... unless a juicy GIII comes up... No! Bad Camera Addict! Stop that!
Anyway - thanks from a Rangefinder newbie for great tips, tricks, and links!

Wow! Another member with a serious GAS problem that Pepto-Bismol can't help! Only more cameras and gear can lessen the pain.
IMO, you've gotten three really nice cameras at bargain prices. Be sure to share your images here with the rest of us. Then someone will blame YOU for their own GAS attacks. It's just a vicious cycle.

I know how you feel. 3 months ago I was a happy Digital SLR user. Then I get a hankering for a GSN like I had when in the military. Got a very good one with instruction manual Pro 50 DX flash box and manual for 18.50 and shipping. Now I am waiting for my GIII to arrive and am bidding on a 35 SP. I am selling my DSLR and hoping this will help me get my next fix. I need a Fuji GS645S. That and 20 rolls of Tri-X and I think I can kick this thing. No more rangefinde... I just saw a Minolta for sale anyone buy a pint of blood.

You will not feel complete until you own ALL the yashica's, then all the canon's and all the olympus.....................and so on............................and so on..........................welcome to G.A.S!

My M5s need red dots!
See you at the bottom of the slippery slope, where happy photographers hang out with their gear around their 2-feet necks (they need them that long for all their gizmos to fit).
And, of course, enjoy the ride!

When I saw the subject I thought my wife had been on here
No way can you stop just yet. Just think of all the variations of Canonets and FSUs and that's just the start

huum . . don't give me ideas here .. I don't have a compact rangefinder with fixed lens, haven't been thinking much of it, before now
. . . .
So where do i start ?, do i have to go the grades or can i go right to the top immediately ?
And what is the "M3" of this range of cameras ?
Glad my mum don't have internet, else i would have been written out of the will

Welcome MrBuhl! In case you haven't figured it out yet, you have come to a place that you cannot escape!
A place populated by those who would drag you into their world with strange curses and incantations; yes, hear them whisper - Yashica, Bessa, Canon, FSU and the dreaded Lecia!!!!! You hear and you obey! You must have them! You must have them ALL!!!
Yes MrBuhl, welcome to the RANGEFINDER ZONE!!!! Whu Ha Ha Ha! (evil laugh)

"...I thought my wife had been here..."
"...stop at three ... still laughing..."
"...poor orphan cameras need a good home..."
I LOVE IT! (OK - I'll come clean, I am still looking for a bargain GIII - but ONLY if it's a bargain... yeah, ahem... )
Thanks for the support - can't wait to post some pics (loaded up a roll of slide film and a new Wein cell in the SP last night!) Woo hooo!

You at least have to get the Lynx and the Minister D, the two Electros that give you direct control over both the aperture and the shutter speed.

And how about a yashica electro35 CC, a small black pearl with a 35mm f/1.8 lens, quite unique in fixed-lens rf world? It's rare too, so it's an adventure, a challenge to find one.

Oh... and the medium format rf's are already waving...can you see?

Are there any very good reasons to stop at 3??????????
Think about this: its not fattening, it won´t hurt You (unless the shelf falls on your head), it´ll make You the happiest man in Earth (till the next one), You´ll feel like in heaven all the time, it´ll keep you at home for longer periods (fixing something in the new baby)(keeps one´s wife happy too), You´ll save on psychyatrist, You´ll never feel alone (lots like You!), it´ll keep you cool all the time...with your mind full of projects... and an M6 waiting for You...
Is there something better than having a serious GAS attack???

Yeah... however there's a way out, trade your less/unused stuff for film. I did/do that lately, and my fridge is filling up with lotsa different film.
In fact, OUR fridge. And my housemate commented on it already, like, his beer does not fit in the fridge anymore. I should shoot more, i guess.

Gee, lets see.... I had a Canonet in my dresser for a few years and decided to play with it one day. After that I found this place. Now I have:
Another Canonet, Yashica GSN, Kiev 4, Zorki 5, Argus 4??, Contax G2, and an M3 on the way.
It took about 4 and a half months for this to happen to me. The good news is I know I have a problem and just don't care
