I started out doing B&W photography in the late sixties, and throughout the seventies did all my own processing (I went to a school which had a well-equiped darkroom). I experimented with various colour films during the late seventies and early eighties, and then when I started travelling from the mid eighties I stuck exclusively to colour slide film (Kodachrome, then later Velvia) exposed in SLR cameras. And that continued throughout the nineties and into this century.

When the Cosina Voigtlander cameras were first released I was very impressed, but they were too expensive for me and, besides, SLRs were newer and better, weren't they?

Then a couple of months ago I noticed two things - Robert White's special deal on a cheap Bessa-L bought with a wideangle lens, and this forum. I read some here, looked at some of your fine work, looked at Robert White's offer again. And then I did it - I bought the CV 15mm and 21mm lenses with a pair of Bessa-L bodies. And, of course, I shot some colour film with them.

Then I read some more here, and looked some more at your fine work. And then I bought a Fed 1. And after that, I got a J-12, J-9, and a turret viewfinder.

Then I went off travelling again, still with colour slide film, but this time with a Bessa and the two lenses (and not a pentaprism in sight). And while I was away I read some more here and looked even more at your fine work. And I bought a Fed 2 (which the seller kindly kept for me until I got home).

Today I've just been to Jessops to drop off my latest batch of slide film. And I've come home with 4 rolls of FP4, and I'm looking to find out where to get a developing tank and some D76.

As I say, I blame you lot.

Oh, and thanks 😉

Best,
