I purchased a black G2 with matching 28/2.8, 45/2 and 90/2.8

All the lenses have caps and the 28 has a hood.

It is in good shape, not like new because I can tell that it has been used.

I paid $900 for the set?

It seemed like a good deal - what say you?

Mike

Are the lenses all black?

It's a nice deal; not fantastic, but definitely nice. I've seen black sets for upwards of $1100 or $1200, but as with all cameras condition is everything.

But the most important part is if you enjoy it--so go out and shoot! :)

actually
that whole set in silver has been going for about 1000usd

so if you managed to get that in black, to me, its a fantastic deal !
that is really cheap for a full black set

welcome to the G2
its a lovely camera. i love mine alot
try acquiring the 21mm lens. its a beautiful piece of optics

If the lenses are also black I would say the seller got robbed :) Yup, you got a fantastic deal... let me know if you decide to sell it ...

Really?
Maybe I've become color blind...
or just a bad memory.

if the lenses have hoods, and some filters, perhaps a flash thrown in, body is in excellent condition ...leather cases are present
such a package hovers at around 900-1000usd realistically speaking (and this is for silver only)

black sets are way way more expensive

Sold my black set

Sold my black set

w/ same 3 lenses last year for $1,500. I added the 21mm w/ accessories for another $1,500 itself. It sold pretty quickly too.

Why does anybody around us serious rf photographers care about body finish? As in the previous 5 posts or so?

The insides of black or silver G2s are exactly alike and the layout as well. So, one body is like another.

What really matters is that we take care of our GAS, maybe have a stroll outside and photograph for a while to relieve this omnipresent current attack of GAS and then get back to capturing good pictures.

Ones that are worthy of the G2! And not producing a GAS epidemic. Clean up, guys!

i do not think the posts reveal that the posters were obsessed with or "cared about" black finish.
we were just furnishing information to the poster's original question, and clarifying some facts or what market rates are.

imo, this is what the rff community is - helpful and resourceful

Well, geez, everybody knows black gear is way better :D Somehow, I really like using my black G2 outfit more than I ever enjoyed the chrome one, go figure...

Hey, I'm allowed to think a beat-up black camera just looks good, aren't I? (It works well too.)

Why don't you just trade for my silver set? Seems like maybe you don't really want the black...
(read: power of suggestion):D

That's why I sold the set when I found out collectors would pay me more than I paid for it......there's pleanty of wonderful equipment of all brands black and silver.....Kumbaya My Lord!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I havent had a chance to update that page since Feb 06.... but I still think most are still close to ebay pricing.

Very good deal. The black are not better, just rarer. I'd personally prefer a black set as I think the camera is less noticeable to others for some reason which can be beneficial for street shooting. I paid $900 USD for my silver G2 and 45 in MINT condition about 6 or so years ago and thought I got a great deal then! I shoot a lot of different cameras, mostly a Leica lately, and my Hasselblad and a couple of Rolleiflex TLRs, but still come back to my G2 and 21, 28, 45 and 90 lenses! It's almost criminal how cheap they have gotten.

Yes, the lenses are all black. I am color-coordinated:)

Sounds like not only do I have a great camera to go with my Leica MP, but I got a great deal as well.
