Just got a Minox TLX off the evil bay, a bloody £200 gas attack, and I know very little about it!

Any expert around?
Whats the best film to use with it, and is it possible to get decent quality pics?

Any advice gratefully received.

I already own a Revue Cam watch in 8x11, but I am still shooting my first film with it.

I guess I'm in full "the smaller the better" mode.

I think there's a Minox group on photo.net. Also, I know there are a number of Minox enthusiast sites.

I've seen some impressive pictures from Minox cameras. The cost of developing the film and printing is pretty steep, it seems. (I wonder whether Minox negatives can be scanned easily.)

I wonder the same thing, how am I going to scan the damn negatives, it is not as if I can buy a 8x11 film holder for my Plustek 35mm scanner!

Do you use a flatbed scanner to scan your negs? If yes, you could get one of the MF film holders with anti-newton glass from betterscanning.com and then tape the negs onto the glass.

My flatbed hasn't got a very high resolution, and for negatives so small I think I would need all the 7200 dpi that the plustek can give me, I guess there must be a way to make a sort of thin cardboard adapter to fit in the 35mm film holder, I just have to figure out how!

In the US there is (was?) Minox processing Laboratories, New Hyde Park, NY. At time of development they would scan to disk. In my opinion the results were good, unfortunately I cannot find any samples to post, and it's been a while since I used them.

Such tiny negatives, good luck with them. Although I use it very rarely My IIIS is fun to use. So far I have been successful in resisting the urge to bid on TLX.

Congrats on the recent GAS attack! ive been thinking of jumping into submini cameras for a while so i have done a bit of research which could help you. You will have to grab a film slitter of ebay so you can make up your own films. In terms of home processing go to http://www.8x11film.com/. They sell jobo tanks with a minox adaptor as well as cassettes (which minox doesnt sell anymore) and special developing chemicals which give resolutions similar to 35. In terms of scanning go to http://www.frugalphotographer.com/catMinoxFilm.htm they sell special slide mounts which can be used for scanning
