I can't calibrate my CL

but now the meter accuracy is worse off than i started. (BTW i was using a new battery) and now its not accurate for a 1.3 or 1.5v battery.. Should i just send it out?

what is it showing now? over or under exposure? did you try compensating the difference using the ASA dial?

its not even close, and its not linearly off either, so i cant just change the film speed. When I try to calibrate it, i can only get it to be accurate for either bright light or low light, not both, so I cant get past step two on the posted instructions.

Before messing with it was the response linear? If not, it may be that the photoresistor was bad to begin with, and you'll need to decide whether or not it is worth it to send in for a replacement.

If you are in the US, Sherry Krauter who works quite a bit with the CL may be able tell you whether or not it is correctable. If so, she would give you a quote over the phone.

Ive been putting off calling Sherry to see if it was correctable myself, id rather not be without it for too long.. im not quite sure if it was linear before. I didnt think it was possible for the cell to be bad but still responsive to light, i figured either it worked or it didnt. I guess Ill be calling her tomorrow.

I sent an M5 to Sherry for a full CLA and to modify the battery to 1.5v, and if memory serves me right, I had it back in my hands in less than 2 weeks time.

A lot of CL meter cells are now in need of replacement and measure non-linearly. Mine was exactly the same, accurate in some conditions and up to 2 stops out in others, and it's now at CRR Luton (UK) for a new cell and recalibration.
