I chickened out, NKT 8.5cm f2 Nikkor in LTM

While I think that all the lenses are similar, I think that the ZO and S-Mount Nikkor are really close as far as color rendition, and that the LTM lens gives colors a bit lighter/brighter than the other two. I will have to play around some more, but will probably do so on a Sony because I am much more familiar with how it works. In any case the LTM lens is a beauty and I am glad I took it apart to clean up the iris mechanism

I have 3 different versions of the Nikkor 8.5cm.. LTM and S mount in chrome, and the S mount in black.
The black version has the later purple coating and seems to handle greens better.
All have some vignetting wide open.
All are much better at f2.8.
I also have the f1.5 Nikkor and it performs similar at f2 but has less vignetting.

Its been a few years since I did the comparison though so I will have to retest with my latest camera.

Got the LTM back together, apeture moves easily. Will be experimenting with the LTM version, a Zeiss-Opton 85/2 and a later version of the Nikkor in S-mount. It will be a good workout for the Amedeo adapter. Now I just need to figure out something to photograph
I also have a Nikkor 105mm f2.5 in black and chrome livery which looks very similar to the 85mm depicted here (in fact, virtually identical except for length). It's another gorgeous lens to own and use. Mine is in Nikkor S mount, but recently I bought a Nikon s to Leica M mount adapter which I like very much. Unlike another Nikon S to Sony adapter which I also have, which is relatively large and obvious when mounted, the Nikon to Leica adapter, when mounted on the lens is partially hidden inside the base of the lens with only the Leica mount visible, and therefore very unobtrusive, making it look , from an exterior view rather like a native Leica mount lens.

Of course this adapter does not engage with a rangefinder so cannot be focused that way on rangefinder Leicas but what it does allow me to do is to mount it on (say) a Leica M to Leica L mount camera by pairing it with a Leica M to Leica L adapter (and similarly to Sony M4/3, etc when using a Leica M adapter to one of these systems).

I now use this kind of stacking system of adapters with Leica L, Sony E and M4/3 camera systems and all lens of types as it provides a lot of flexibility - especially when I change camera systems which I recently did when I bought a Leica L mount camera. Though in theory stacking can introduce errors in the flange distance, so far this has not been a problem for me. If curious I linked the ebay item for the adapter.
