I remember the feeling of seeing my first roll of TX in D-76 come out right. I also remember the feeling of looking at my negs after developing TX in water (having somehow forgotten the developer) and fixing.

I agree the thrill of seeing the negatives is always there. But, for me, I think the biggest thrill is seeing an image develop during printing in the developer -- that is so thrilling, especially when the image is showing as you had planned.
