Does not sound so much of a hype to me....his friend gave it a try and liked it.
People -who are not that intersted in photography- pestering around about how modern their digital cameras are and how ridiculous those nostalgic old cameras are are for me a better example of a hype.

Nice article.
I completely agree with the premise. As nice as an M9 may be, i'm still going to prefer the look of the same shots on film. The cheapest film camera can still use Tri-X and D-76. With digital, it's either a simulation or something that's supposed to have a 'filmlike quality.'
I'll have to remember to re-read this article every time i'm charmed by the gloss and pomp of an M9 brochure, or some schmuck telling me a rangefinder viewfinder is a "window to the world... to LIFE."
