I envy people who can buy stuff like this ...

The great writer Ben Johnson considered envy our worst curse and limitation. I have to agree with him. Be thankful you have what you have and make it count. I would not envy anyone who buys that item.

I was thinking of getting it ... but there doesn't see to be an adapter available for my M240. 😀

Envy perhaps is the wrong word, but I also would like to be able to spend that much money on this lens, because then I wouldn't but go on a dream vacation with my whole family. 😉

Uh, so outrageous price Boris appears to have fled from Nuremberg to tax haven Austria? And he seems to have cornered the entire market of 35mm Kino Plasmats? Which he offers at what even the most generous estimate would make 2000% the past collectors value (and more like 5000% of what any sane photographer would pay)? Given that his items NEVER change hands on ebay, what is the point behind these offers? It can't even be money laundering if there is no cash flow...

Sorry Dave, it's junk. It's just an old lens. I don't care if its the only one left in the world of it's kind... it's just an old lens that is essentially a paperweight. Honestly, I wouldn't give the guy $5 for it even if he'd take it. And I don't envy anyone who'd buy it as I think they'd HAD to have lost their mind.

Well, my original wording was going to be .... "It's scary knowing that someone out there will drop $35K on a used camera lens".

Then I thought, "Maybe it's the lens they shot Citizen Kane with?"
Then I thought "Wouldn't it be great to have $35k to pi$$ away on a curio?"

Oh well... someone out there thinks that my used X100 is an outrageous indulgence. The world turns and turns.

I don't think Dave is lusting after this lens in particular.
I believe his point is he'd like to be in the financial circumstances which would make such a goofy purchase doable.

Aha! I see you've already addressed the issue, Dave.

My M9P IS an outrageous indulgence... I struggle with that every day... on the other hand, it is marvelous at what it does, so I keep it. And at least it's not just an expensive paperweight. Frankly, I'm struggling with dropping $600 on my M4-P to let Sherry overhaul it and have the MP conversion done to the finder. 🙂 OTOH, I did just drop $2900 for a $5k bike... <grin> talk about indulgences...

Yes, that is Boris. "The" Boris.

Ad as to the ridiculous prices: as long as one person in three years buys an item with such a price tag, it pays off to put it up on EBAY for that.
I guess he doesn't need to sell it quickly. 😉

Some of the other shyster C-mount sellers that are well known occasionally have BIN prices in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Calv$$ky even had a million dollar BIN once. Of course, they are not expecting it to sell, it just attracts the attention they need.

I have a rebranded Kino Plasmat C-mount, I'd sell for much less than that! And it would sell. Or I could ask, say, $19,000 for it and pay .50 cents to ebay for my joke.
