I am still puzzled over the expression "I feel like a traitor..." Is that from guilt about prefering SLR over RF, not offering the Canonet here first, or an unrelated act of selling State Secrets?
Let me come clean about this: while I like and use RF cameras, I am no means hostile to or disdain SLRs or any other type of viewing system. One of my favorite cameras is a Rolleiflex TLR. I love looking at pretty pictures on the little viewing screen. Never once did I consider that kind of ogling an act of treachery. Under this great tent of photography is room for everything except for the Holga which is a piece of s__t.
It is easy to form a relationship with one's photo equipment, of course. I do it all the time. After years of this I have concluded that whatever emotions expended by its operator, the camera doesn't care one bit except for some models, mostly discontinued by now.
That said, one of the things I like most about Nikons is that they have no personality. Using a Nikon is, for me, like picking up a hammer or screwdriver, tools that I seldom check for brand name. Nikons just do their job and can be then put away so you can drool on your Leica.
