I was just talking about the cameras we had when I started photography in high school...They were Kodak Instamatics with 126 film...they sure didn't look like that!!

Crap. When I was going to Auburn in the mid 60's and running the student union darkroom there, they gave me an old Burke & James 5x7 view camera. 😡

I hated that camera. What a POS. Had to carry a pair of vise grips to tighten everything because it was so sloppy. It was ugly as a mud fence too.

It was considered a step up to get to use a Speed Graphic.

But they gave YOU a LEICA. That sucks. There must be someplace I can go to complain... :bang:

Bwahh!! Funny. I used to clamp down those Calumets at a studio I worked at. Those green monsters were hell to work with.

But look on the bright side. Auburn, in the 60's. I bet he wasn't shy with the ladies and ladies weren't shy to him at that time. 🙂

Oh and the Leica...probably a fake. Better yet, spray paint an old rangefinder and return it and see if they notice.

The POS old Burke & James finally fell apart? 😉

No Mr./Mrs.[fill in teacher name here], I didn't check out a camera.

They let you take those HOME? That's a trusting school. Never in a million years would a school around here even dream of letting someone slip out of the doors with 7500 bucks worth of photography equipment.

He goes to Brooks -- it is a photography school in Santa Barbara -- one of the best technical photo schools in the country. In any case, they have cartloads of equipment for students to check out. I don't think many check out the M's....most people are going in and checking out the 1Ds's, Hasselblad kits, Horsemen, F5's and any kind of strobe, underwater housing or lighting device imaginable. Most of the kids I have met from there don't even know what a Leica is -- agphotography is a notable exception.
