Looking for the lens for long time. Thank dyao for the HU thread in this forum two weeks ago, just bought a mint copy. Here are some test shoot on a Panasonic G1.

Personally I prefer the pic from Canon @ 1.5 and leica @2.0. Obvious the leica one is sharper at F2.0

Canon at F1.5

Canon at F2.0

Rigid summicron at F2.0

and the lens itself

Thanks for the comments. Actually the 100% crop is not the proper way to show the strength of the lens, it can only be used to test the sharpness. No surprising that the Summicron is sharper. Canon is also good enough when wide open.

The strength of the lens is how it actually deliver in final photos, which I really like, especially the color (perfect for skin tone).

Ya, the lens grows on me.

Good buy, I bet you'll like it. I've had one for a while now and haven't used it enough. Now I will! Mine on a G1:

I have had the 50/1.4 for awhile and love it on my Canon P. Been wondering about the 1.5 Sonnar because I love my ZM Sonnar on M9. This thread makes me think I need one.

I like the OOF rendering in your pictures and the colours of the secound image!

My Canon 50 mm f/1.5 was picked up today at customs and waits to see me at the weekend 🙂

It's the "King" of cult Canon LTM glass.......the "Japanese Sonnar"

Someone got an amazing deal here too....and with an original Leitz LTM to M adapter.

This lens and the f1.5/35 and f1.2/50 make up my favorite team of lenses to use full time, I really shoot more Canon glass now then Leica anymore for it's "vintage" feeling 🙂

Enjoy Your Lens!

Tom

Two more quick testing pic from the lens on a G1. I really like the OOF area in the pic, much better than CV50/1.5 I ever used.

The Canon 50/1.5 is a faithful Sonnar copy at the Leica standard.

I found the lens to be optimized for F2.8 on my M9, might change the shim on it. It has the "infamous" focus shift, and the manufacturer has to pick an optical set point. At F1.5 the lens front-focuses, stopping down shifts the focus back to agree with the viewfinder.
