I hate Southern California...

Its November 21 and I came to school today wearing jeans and a t-shirt. No jacket and I'm not the least bit uncomfortable. Its probably 75 degrees outside.

Where's winter? 🙁
Well you are about 1.5 hours from Winter -- it's called Big Bear, CA

I flew over Big Bear on my way in from Vegas last week.. there was no snow, and I don't think they're having a cold winter this year. Of course, I could be mistaken.

Kyle: careful what you wish for. If it starts raining here, you're going to have more than an angry mob of canadians to worry about 😉

I think perpetual summer is a bad idea.

How the hell can you appreciate spring unless you've gone through winter?

It just got cold enough to keep the wood stove fired up all day and I couldn't be happier. Well, I could. There could be a nice dusting of snow on the ground. 😀

My mower suppliers are telling me,"Can't get that model til next season, we're producing snow throwers now". Whats a mowing season? We cut grass in our shorts, all year long.

California Isn't So Bad

California Isn't So Bad

Except for the unusual traffic on weekends, and the (current) unseasonably warm weather--Southern California isn't bad afterall... we have beaches, mountains and deserts--that you wouldn't simply find in other parts of North America.🙂

According to a Los Angeles news article several months ago, mother Earth now is two degrees warmer in temperature. People in Iceland, though, love warmer weather. 🙂

I live in San Diego and I am not complaining...(Being from the east coast, I don't miss the Winter at all)..you should head to the mountains close by...you can get some Winter and then in 45 minutes be in the warm weather again That's the great thing about SoCal
Exactly. I was born and raised in the SOuth Bay area (Harbor City, then Rancho Palos Verdes). You miss "winter"? Drive a couple hours east into the San Bernadino mountains...Big Bear is easy to get to. Get tired of the snow? Then drive a couple of hours back west to the beach for a beautiful sunset.

🙂

On the traffic, I used to commute from Torrance to Burbank every day for work. I-5 is a b***h

It always snows late in Big Bear 🙂

I haven't missed a winter yet, but I'd like to.
Right now it is the in between of fall and winter--that means it is not lovely fall weather[sunny days cool nights and pretty trees] or good snowy days[cold, clear nights and bright, brisk days]. What it is now is gray days and dark nights, rainy or sleeting, windy and cold, low pressure (so your sinuses hurt), high humidity (so your bones hurt). I haven't seen the stars in 5 weeks now. This is no fun.
As I came home tonight it was 24 degrees F. I think that's about -4 degrees C? And blowing wet mist.
Yuk.
joe, the oil sands( where there is, apparently, a major economic/employment boom happening) are north of you, right?
Personally, I'm scheming how to move to Belize--my retirement funds are slowly building and when I get enough $, I'm there!

OK, the locals are in!!!!

Hey Kev, where are you located?

There's no such thing as bad weather - there's only bad clothing.

I grew up in Northern California, but I've been in New England since college. I doubt that I'll ever move back to California. It's gotten too crowded. And, in my opinion, winter has a civilizing effect on people. Too much sun keeps students away from libraries!

libraries? socal has one of the largest, most active library systems in the us. same goes for the book arts community.
