I have found me a Pro Lab

It is a happy day! 😎

It is odd how it happened. I organized a print swap at another site that I go to (AR15.com). Well I got paired up with a truely great photographer. It just so happens he is the darkroom tech at a Kodak Pro Lab in Seattle. I knew this, but didn't think anything of it. Well I got home from the golf course and found a package sitting by the door. (It helps to give the postman nice gifts at X-Mas and know him so he will set it by the door 😉 ) So I open it and I am shocked to say the least. First of the pictures (Pike's Market and Hockey HoF). Later I look at them and I loved the finish (Endura). So I e-mail him and he basically tells me all about it and points me to the prices. I am like cool, I have been looking for one and I don't care if it is in Seattle.

I don't think I will use it for everything - only enlargements that I need to *really* look good. Otherwise I just use my Canon Pixima ip8500 that also prints good images.

So what good happened to you today? 😀

Well I can recommend 2 pro labs - one on each side of the country: A&I in Los Angeles and Zona Labs in Somerville, MA. I like them both because they have standardized on XTOL as their developer and they both have done (so far) nothing but really good work for me. 🙂

Hi! Well, I don't mind that it's in Seattle either, since that's like less than 2hrs drive for me... So, please tell which lab it is, point to the website, and all the other sordid details so I and others as near Seattle might consider them for print swap jobs, etc! 🙂

I didn't want people to think this is an ad, but since you asked I will post it.

Congratulations, I am fortunate in that I have a wedding/portrait photographer friend that has a great lab. he develops for 1.99 a roll and does up to 36" prints for me. Plus he is only 20 miles from the house. The only downside is he closes at 5 PM and is not open on Sat.

Thanks! Good to hear Pacific Color is still doing a good job. Twenty-odd years ago all my "pro" type enlargement orders went there via the local camera shop, and times and labs have changed a lot since then. I've bookmarked their URL, so that's another resource I can still call on for top-quality work. Great! 🙂
