I Have Ordered A Kiev Mount SC 28mm - f3.5 Voigtlander Lens From Cameraquest

The Nikkor lenses which are made for Contax have a C engraved on the lens barrel. I will have to go see if I can find a photo of one.

Hi Rover,
Many thanks for your contribution. There is no need for you to find a body "C" marked Nikkor for Contax, as these body marks are widely known. It was these front lens "C" marks what made the mystery.

Cheers,
Ruben

There's nothing on the Cosina website about the design of the SC lenses, so I've copied the relevent section from the user's guide (sorry, I only have the Japanese version!).

First, here's a shot of the user's guide (one side) that came with my SC Skopar 28mm f3.5 lens.

And here's a shot of the relevent section circled in red, which translates to:

"SC lenses are designed for the Nikon S series, however there is no problems in actual usage when used on old Contax cameras because the amount of focus error is within the depth of field."

As Rover said, the red C only indicates the lens is coated, and was used on the earlier Nikkors up until about 1958 afterwhich Nikon stopped using it, because by then all manufacturers were coating their lenses and there was no longer any point in advertising it.

Hi Ruben and everybody else here,
I appreciate the information on the CV 28mm3.5. I may still keep my other 28mm lenses for the time being (Kobalux, Canon, Minolta), but if I find one day that I want/need a higher contrast very sharp 28mm lens at an affordable cost, then the CV 28mm 3.5 looks like a winner.

Good for you, Ruben. The 28mm is the one I want to get for my Kievs & Contax. If I could get a few things to sell ... <shrug>.
