Namely, I had my photos shown on exhibition for the first time :)
It's an exhibition of the works of the local photographers/reporters in my home town (a very small town :)), showing photos taken during the local street festival about a month ago.
I know one of those guys, and he knows I did some B&W shooting during that street festival, and asked me to give him some scanned photos on a CD, saying that maybe I could participate in the upcoming exhibition.
I thought nothing would come of it, but, lo and behold, today at the opening, I saw two of my photos hanging on the wall!
The photos were digital prints, and my B&W jpegs didn't come out very fine technically - I gave him smallish files, just for preview, and thought he'd ask for bigger files if he needed them...
But, anyway, it was nice. And one of those shots is even in the catalogue. The other is the "Back view" shot from my gallery.

Hm, I guess such a shot is a sure eye-catcher, even if not technically perfect :)

Anyway, just wanted to share this with you guys (and gals)...
Nothing much, but it does help with my wife - maybe she won't complain so much about carrying a camera all the time everywhere we go :D

Anyway, here are the shots again...

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Congratulations, Denis! Very nice work and a well deserved showing. You have a fine eye and captured some very nice images.

P. S. Don't forget your roots (the RFF) as you rise to fame;)

Thanks for the kind words, D2... The images are nothing spectacular, although "Back view" was a kind of lucky shot. Well, not that lucky, since I waited for a few minutes for the crowd to disperse, so that I could get a clean shot :)
There are so many fine photographers and excellent photos here on RFF that anything I can come up with pales in comparison....
But, I'll keep trying!

Denis

Congratulations! It must be very exciting to be ehibited for the first time! (I wouldn't know. I can't wait for the RFF book to come out so I can say I've been published.)

Congratulations! 'Back view' is a nice shot indeed!

May I tell you about my first (and only) published picture so far?
A friend of my girl-friend is a semi-famous Hungarian actress (Kecskes Karina, if any Hungarians read this...), and we visit her in Budapest once in a while; on one occasion I took a picture of her cat and gave her a B&W print; on our next visit she showed me a cheesy Hungarian mag about stars and starlets - with my cat picture in there; they had done an interview with her, and asked her for her 10 favorite things, and since her cat is one of them, she let them print my cat picture in the mag...

Roman

Nice story, Roman!
Your popularity among the cat avatars here will surely reach new heights after this ;)

i am very happy for you and anything that will help with the wife;)

i have been lucky in knowing some people and being in the right place at the right time and been fortunate enough to have been published and exhibited also, and as an amateur it feels great!

i hope you have many more experiences like this one.

Re-reading that paragraph about my wife, I see a potential misunderstanding - actually, it should say:
"maybe she won't complain so much about ME carrying a camera all the time everywhere we go". If she were to carry it, she sure would have reason to complain :)

Congratulations!!! "Back View" is a real good street shot. I can certainly relate to the wife thing. Perhaps it is time to start leaving them home, or at their mother's place or somewhere you can hear them whine and nag. Hmmm... then they'd just go shopping some more... maybe its cheaper and easier to invest in some ear plugs.

that's funny, i missed that possible interpretation!

but i still agree that anything that helps a wife understand her husband's 'addiction' can only be a good thing.

Congratulations on having your Pictures on Exhibit. It is exciting to see an image that you made in public view.

Affliction, Joe, affliction not addiction. If it's considered an addiction then I'm afraid my wife will demand I get cured and that's the last thing that I'd want!:D

Denis, congratulations! It must have given you a very warm feeling inside to see your photos exhibited! Well done!
