Canadian & Not A Dentist
after seeing Steveh's thread this morning the images looked too good to not at least try out the X-Pro1.
At around 1:30pm local time I made a call to my local camera merchant who informed me they had one in that I could come down and try - so, I curtailed my Walpoling activities, sallied forth, and infiltrated their place of purveyance to negotiate the vending of some X-Pro1 gear!
Welp, I'm now looking to sell a few cameras - the X-Pro1 felt that good in my hands (yes, a lot lighter than I expected) that I was almost sold immediately. I was surprised at a couple things - the store received 15 bodies, same number of 35 lenses and a smaller amount of 18 and 60 lenses. They had 6 of the bodies/lenses gone by the time I had gotten there and not all were "spoken for" already - this surprised me since I figured they would have been gone in a heartbeat.
I'm not sure what the issue is with respect to manual focus - at least of the "kit" lenses. It didn't seem to be that much of an issue for me. I'll await the m-mount adapter accordingly however.
The "chattering" - meh - I noted it but I don't think it'll be that much of an issue in my opinion. I can see if you're taking photos at a funeral... or a library... or a museum.. or art gallery.. but in general I don't think it'll be that big of a deal.
Hopefully will get to play with it a bit tonight as I have a wine event to attend to.
Cheers,
Dave
