Just bought a minty M6 (classic) from *bay. Paid a fair bit for it, but a lot less than for similar retail. Seller took it with him last year on a factory visit to Solms and had it looked over by one of the technicians. Hope to get my grubby hands on it early next week. Before you say it, I didn't really need it, but life is too short. Now got to get to grips with bottom loading 🙁

Item number is 7607715665 if you want to take a look.

Magus,

Thanks. Delivery is confirmed and it should be with me by 13:00 on Monday. I already have some L glass that I use on my RD-1 - 35mm 'cron 4th, 50 'cron (late) and 50 Summarit, so there should be no compromises or excuses. I imagine that I'll have my first roll of Delta 400 on the scanner Monday evening.

Regards

Gid

Gid, the best way to calm your bottom-loading anxiety is this: get a dummy roll and practice it.

That was the trick with me.

Just drop the roll with the lead pulled out long enough to enter the pronged spool, and make sure the sprocket engages the film perforations. A lot of people think the spool pulls the film out of the canister, but in reality the sprocket's teeth are doing that job. If they are engaged with the perforartions of the film, you're all set.

After figuring this out, I've never misloaded once.

Enjoy it! And, better yet, use it! 🙂

weird, i could swear ive seen these same photos of the camera on a chinese second hand leica site, guess you seen one you seen em all

Bottom loading hardship is perhaps the #1 myth about Leica cameras, followed closely by the claim that they are "silent"

Two myths, made by people on both sides of the spectrum.

great kit, Gid. Congratulations.

Now all you need is a lens. If you really need a lens, I might suggest starting with either a 50mm or 35mm. Both will work well as first focal lengths and with the finder in your M6. I have a 50mm Summicron (Leicaspeak for f/2.0). It is a great piece of glass and pretty compact.

Strange you should say that, as the sellers name is Wun Hung Lo. Should I be worried?

Sell the Bronica - No way. Used it this afternoon - test roll of XP2. It is such a sweet camera - I'll sell a kidney first 😀
