I made a Film Development Timer

I didn’t want to invest in a “real” film development timer but needed some kind of timer that would tell me when to agitate and when to stop developing. My cell phone was bad at this. So I made a small program which works inside web browser.

I have only tested it with Firefox 2.0.0.1 and hope it works with other browsers as well.

heh, I wrote one in VB a while ago because I dropped my cheap kitchen timer lol.
I was lazy and just used the Windows system beeps, though. That fancy soundtrack you used is money. 🙂

It probably depends on the installed java plugin version and IE version. Some combinations might not work.

may i ask where you develop the films? in front of the computer-🙂

i used my watch or clock, works just fine. I also have an small digtal alarm clock cost less than 5 dollars which it beats every minute, it is very handy.

I use a Casio watch that allows one to set a count-down timer for the overall development time but also concurrently runs an intermittent timer that can be set to beep every 30 seconds or minute (or whatever) to cue you to agitate.

My wife bought it for me in Beijing years ago and I just bought a back up for it as well, ordering it from eBay from a seller in Singapore. Well worth the $30 or so as it as been the perfect timer for my film development for years and I do about 4-5 rolls a week in general. And I really do not want to be doing agitation anywhere near my computer.

I have the model # at home (at the office now) and will report back.

I use Foto Timer. It is freeware for Palm OS. You can program the durations in steps. I also use it in the darkroom. The minimal green light from the palm screen has not been much of a problem.

Bought an oldfashioned stopwatch, new and Russian, cheap on Ebay. Works fine, but doesn't beep at intervals....

Markus: Good idea, but the sounds are very, very annoying and the timer won't start if you leave any input empty. Is it a bug or a feature? 🙂
