With the massive weight of the Canon 50/1.2 LTM hanging off the front, I found the camera very difficult to hold.
So I made this out of 1/8" aluminium and some wood. It actually makes the camera much easier to control with one hand when using a heavy lens.

You tuned your C3. Good idea.
You could think of a tripod connection for the portrait mode.

Very nice! It reminds me of the wood grip that Pentax used to make for the 67. However, the size difference is considerable! I have in my mind's eye a nice side-by-side picture of the NEX-C3 and the Pentax 67 with their respective wood grips... Nettar

I am happy to say the NEX 5 does not have this issue. I presently have a Canon 58mm f1.2 (SLR version) on mine and have routinely used fast 135mm lenses. The extra size in the NEX 5 grip makes all the difference. Oh and I also like to use the Voigtlander 50mm f1.1, which if anything is even more cumbersome.

Nice! I have the same Body/Lens combo and have been thinking about building something similar so that I don't have to hold my camera with a sweaty deathgrip out of fear of it slipping from my hands.
How has this held up in the year+ since you made it? Have you upgraded to a different body yet? Any design improvements?

Well done! Did you glue it on, or are there also screws/nuts/bolts involved?
It's almost a Hasselblad Lunar now.. but better looking and loads cheaper..
