Help me I can't stop myself!

I just ordered another FSU, a nice Zorki 4 with Chrome Jupiter 8. The reality is the camera body is a nice bonus, I really just was looking for the lens. I think the contrast of the chrome J8 on my newly Black with new Black Pebble Leather FED 2 will be good. But most importantly, I hear the j8 is a great lens. It will provide a nice complement to my Ind 50 rigid and Ind 50 collapsible!

Supreme FSU Being grant me the strength to resist further purchases.....

I figure it's cheaper and safer than collecting women.

Words of wisdom! Not to mention FSU cameras collection is much cheaper than say Leica collection? :p

RFF 10 Step Program:
1) Lurk on Forum
2) Get hooked. Canonet or similar fixed lens RF's
3) Join Forum
4) Inexpensive Interchangeable Lens cameras
5) Start reading the other forums, Canon Leica, Etc
6) Bessa R and R2, great quality and features at good prices
7) Canon's are not too expensive, and have that classic quality. Buy some.
8) Look over at the Leica Stuff. M6TTL. Good Price, lots of modern features.
9) Start to dislike batteries. Get an M3
10) Not only don't I like having a computer in my camera, I do not even want the lens to have been designed using a computer. Sell everything made after 1962 and buy all classic gear. Whether it be Leica, Canon, Contax, Nikon, or Retina... You have reached the end of the road.

"...the end of the road."

But, but, there's got to be more. What about painting top and bottom plates? What about FED and Zorki camera repair? Or a jump to MF: Gevorg's ARAX 60. Check out his website, beautiful stuff. He is in Kiev. He buys brand new Kiev 60's and 645's, tears them apart and refines them and makes them right.

And for something like $298 you get a new MF with a Jupiter lens.

So you see, there truly is no end to it after all.

("For me there is only the traveling on paths that have heart, on any path that may have heart. There I travel, and the only worthwhile challenge is to traverse its full length. And there I travel, looking, looking, breathlessly.") - Carlos Casteneda, The Teachings of Don Juan.

The end of the road... The point of no return... you mean like buying box lots full of spare Retina repair parts including 12 top plates, 12 bottom plates, and the stuff that went in between? The end of the road... Your as bad-off as Brian!

I know the feeling only too well. I'm finally tapering off from an all time high of 87 bids and 100 items watched to about 6 (give or take) bids and 18 watched. Hope to get down to 0 bids and 6-10 watched items but we'll see. Mantra to self: Sunny weather and days off mean grabbing camera and film to go shooting. Not for sitting indoors bidding on goodies I really don't need. (or have room for).

Well even if you can cure your GAS by not looking at Eb)(y you Can still come here and F.A.R.T.
( found at rangefinder thread)and happily spend you hard earned money on another and another and another and another and another....................................................

curt,

re ebay...i just took a look, i have no items being watched, nothing i'm bidding on and maybe 4 items that i have paid for and am now just waiting on delivery.

and what's really weird, is that i can't think of anything else i want/need!

maybe i should go lie down for a bit...

I just payed for my prewar Leica 90mm uncoated lens. Now I am looking at viewfinders.

Hello, my name is Skinny and I have a problem.

and sure if we had sound that went with computer boxes I would hear a huge group of people at the same meeting say " Hello Skinny".

Once you have G.A.S. and F.A.R.T. then you can Have B.M. (BUY MORE)!!!!

Hi Skinny,
I know, I've been tempted by a few members selling equipment lately.
Hey Joe,
I also can't think of much I really need at the moment. That said, I'm waiting on 2 SLR's, 3 TLR's, 5 box cameras, 2 RF's (anyone else own or use a Buena before?), 1 scale focus camera, 3 lenses (1 prime 135 Travenon of unknown mount, 2 zooms), 2 books (finally a Maizenberg in English, yippee), and 1 point and shoot Stylus.
I think I'd be better off dumping my searches (I have 15 set up as favourites) and just sticking with whatever I'm looking for at the moment. Just too tempting with the E site as the biggest yard sale in the world, accessible 24 hours a day. LOL. Maybe then I'd actually catch up to using all the ones I haven't tried yet. (30 rolls of Konica Super VX 200/ drug store 400/Chinese Pro Click 400 {dollar store film} burning a hole in my computer desk top.)

Just got back from the camera show...

Canon IIf with 50mm F1.5 lens joins the club. Near mint, few cleaning marks on lens... Adjusted RF horizontal and vertical alignment already... need Sunny Day.

By Brian's method, I'm step #6 and fading fast ...

"Hello, my name is Mike and I'm a rangefinderphiliac ... "

Does it bode poorly if I find myself wondering whether to sell some pretty good SLR equipment to finance RF stuff? Or, that I have more film on hand for my handful of RFs than I do for my SLRs?
