I heard Brian Sweeney has quit RFF.

I am aghast so many of his images have been pulled.

Whatever happened? Anything can be done to persuade him to return?

In any case, I would like to thank Brian for his contribution. He brings great value to RFF, and this place is not the same without him.

For those who have missed it, Raids posted in several threads about Brian leaving.

Definitely a shame. As someone tinkering with camera/lens repair, the information he brought to the forum was invaluable to me. Its part of the reason why I signed up. I hope the community focused on the repair/tinkering side continues here as its one of the better communities I found for those discussions.

Yup, it's terrible. We all know that our online life is only a small portion of our "real" life. Who knows what's going on in Brian's real life. Let's wish him the best and hope for his return.

I do fervently hope that Brian will reconsider and come back. Hope that he is only taking a "vacation" for a brief period. I learned more from Brian's dis-mantling and cleaning lenses than in any other information source - plus that he got me using a lot of lenses of east bloc origin.
The good think is that he is a "tinkerer" in the best way - and you cant keep someone like him away from tools. glass and friends.

Brian's level of expertise will certainly be missed...but in his roll as a moderator he was a huge help to me recently to get my account with RFF re-established. Hopefully he will be back - in time.

He will be missed, one of the true boffins on RRF. But removal of his images smacks of something deeper going on if he no longer wants to share his knowledge with RFF members. Its like the vicar burning down the church.

I assume a lot of his photos were links to an account elsewhere (flickr?). If that account is gone too, so too would be the images from the posts. A true shame as the information was invaluable and difficult to find elsewhere.
