Hopefully Brian will start posting again,
RFF is certainly a better place with his contributions.
He has a lot of knowledge and experience to share.

Anyone know what triggered his decision? There must be a reason behind it. We have all gained greatly from his posts. He will be very conspicuous by his absence.

Who knows... but you might want to ask Nick directly if he has a clue.

the story is brian's to tell.
it would seem he has chosen to leave and to not share his reasons...that is his right and i respect that.
in time he may reverse his decision (he has done that before) but for now i believe he just wants to spend less time on the net, in general.

Brian was a great person to deal with. My current favorite lens and the only one I'm keeping in 35mm format is one of his Jupiter-3's. Many thanks Brian.

it means exactly what it says. yes, of course... you are correct. why the suspicious retort on christmas eve? merry christmas to you too.

it also means that i agree that he might change his mind and return... since there is history of that happening. Have a happy new year too!

i don't really celebrate christmas so this is just my normal winter suspicious retort...sorry, but it sounded a bit sarcastic to me...

He did the same thing several years back, got mad at something and vanished. It took him over a year, but eventually he came back. But maybe this time he'll pull a Bill Matlock and vanish for good.....

I don't know Brian. I'm sure that I have benefited from his contribution.
There is something healthy about taking a break from a forum. I find myself displaying some addictive behavior with regards to forums and my occasional break puts things in perspective. I high recommend such a forum siesta to all all. Anyway, I'm taking a Christmas break. It is family for a few days. The best to all of you in this holiday season. Oh, and best to you, Brian.... you lurker.... just having fun.. but I bet he does take a peak from time to time.

Well, I will miss his posts and his moderation. What ever his reason for leaving, I hope all turns out well for him and that his departure is only temporary.

I would not be surprised if Brian quit RFF just to stop the flow of requests to mod our J3's. He did a great job on mine some time back.
In any way - Merry Christmas to you all and of course to Brian.

Well I'm puzzled too. I don't know Brian well, but I've benefited from his knowledge and his postings here and elsewhere. It was something I looked forward to regularly and now it's gone. He cleaned up my Jupiter-3 less than a month ago, and was so helpful and nice. I hope I wasn't imposing on him. He seemed happy to help. Hope he returns. I promise I won't ask for any more lens help!

J-3's are probably the easist lens to mod. My 63 year was front focusing so I posted a thread. Brian told me what I needed to do & I did it. Required no special tools. It's my fav. 50 now. I'll add that I'm no pro when it comes to doing these things.

Well I don't think I bugged him to work on my lens. He offered to do it. He has his reasons for leaving, and so be it. Thank you, Brian, if you ever see this, for helping me. Hope everything is all right. All the best---

Thanks, and best wishes to you and your family in the coming years Brian. Frank Bruner
