For some reason, I am finding this line on all my negs recently. It appears to be some un-developed area running the length of the roll. I tried changing reels, but that didn't help. I'm filling the tank to the top w/ chemistry even though it holds two reels. Here are 2 examples. All comments suggestions you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

This is not a development chemistry issue. Check the negs to see if there's a scratch along their length. If yes, the bulk loader or the camera is scratching the film. If no, Ray is likely correct about the scanner.

I've had the issue using two different camera bodies, two different film brands. I am scanning the negs. I've scanned slides and not had this issue. It only seems to appear with B&W negs. I will try scanning a strip of color negs to see if the line appears. If so, I will assume that scanner or film cartridge is at issue. It's a Konica_minolta Scan Dual IV if anyone is familiar w/ thr model.

Do you see a corresponding line on the negs of the frames which show this line? That will go a long way in narrowing down what the cause is.

I used to get these lines occassionally with my flatbed scanner (Epson 4180). I'm not sure why they would occur, but I usually rescanned after rebooting the scanner and it would be fine. Attached is one scan I still have on my HD (see top third of image).

:)

SCRATCH - if this line apperas as a scratch on the negs once they have been processed - AND it runs continuously down the length of the film ie between the frames as well, then you have a camera or bulk film loader problem - dust, grit - causing the scratch.

Negs are not scratched. I have verified by inspection under my $5.00 loupe. I did blow out the interior if the scanner w/ canner air. I will continue testing.

It's the scanner. Not sure if needs cleaning or what. Tried strips of positive and negative film, color and B&W. Sony is apparently handling the service on these now. Better get the warranty info. I think I purchased it early this year.
