It flew from the top of my car while riding through the town...my beloved GRD3 died 2 days ago!
I loved this camera! Now-what would you to do? Purchase a GRD4?
Will there be a GRD5 soon? I need your input to make a decision!
Thanks, Thomas

i heard a rumor that a GRD with a bigger sensor is supposed to release soon. i own a gx200 myself and love it if you can find one of those since they cost less than a GRD2/3.

Repair? The LCD is probably an easy fix. I did the same to my Samsung NX100 and thought it was dead but two years after a £75 repair it is still going strong.

May be more expensive to change the LCD, suggest another GRD3 which comes cheap now or a GRD4.

It's not only the LCD. The body is broken too (second photo).

I think for me, that's a write-off, yes you could have the LCD replaced and the body fixed. And hope there is nothing else wrong with it. But what is the cost of those repairs, and what is the cost of a used GRD III? Or indeed a new GRD III?

I'd prefer to buy the GRD4 because of some improvements over the GRD3.
But it still costs €400, and I am afraid that when a GRD5 comes out, prices for the GRD4 will drop dramatically...

GRD5 will be in another league, compact APS-C are not cheap as shown by the new Nikon Coolpix A.

Do you really believe the GRD5 will have an APS-C sensor?
If yes, it would be much bigger and not really pocketable anymore.
It would also be a rival for Ricoh's own GXR with the 28mm module....

Can't comiserate with you Wallace, as the photos are no longer there to see. Did you change the settings on whom can view them?
I haven't been keeping up with the whole Ricoh digital thing, as it's just too much to remember, but I do know these are good cameras, so I can understand your grief. Good time for a G.A.S. attack!

Since you mention the GXR 28, it seems that prices on it are dropping quite a lot. Someone said you can pick up a bargain at Henry's Camera, I think. If you want aps-c and can live with a somewhat larger camera, the GXR 28 is a very good option.
If you can hold out for a few months, Ricoh are bound to announce the GRD V and prices on the IV will drop, too.
Edited to add: The new Nikon A shows how small an aps-c camera can be with today's technology. It is bigger than the GRD III but not that much bigger than the Sony RX-100. I'm hoping that Ricoh will create a GRD with aps-c sensor that is only a bit bigger than the III/IV but smaller than the GXR 28.

If you need a replacement quick, I'd say get the GRD4. From what I read, the GRD5's proposed APSC is not of the regular 1.5 crop that the DSLR's use.
It will be smaller.
It will be smaller.

The photos are back, didn`t know that when I deleted them from my Flickr they also disappear here...
Meanwhile I have found a restored GRD4 with 2 years warranty for €333.
I hope that it arrives today!
Thank You all for your advice!
