After lots of had wringing and close calls in the past I have finally taken the plunge and bought a black M6 TTL.
It's so nice (I've been using a Bessa R for 3? years now) and smooth.
Bloody heavy compared to the R but that little 'snick' of the shutter brings a smile to my face.

The sales guy gave me a super deal on an "as new" CV 28 f2 and told me I'd be nuts not to get it also. I'm usually immune to sales speak but it made too much sense (particularly as they had run out of ltm adapters for my other lenses) and I gave in.

Maybe I'll update my gallery (one day) when I scan the results.

Now, how do you get the film OUT of this thing?

Congrats on your purchase. I am glad that I held onto mine - nearly sold it a few weeks ago.

To get film out, there is a rewind switch next the the "R" located under the "Leica M6" wording at the front of your camera (on left hand side). Turn that switch clockwise.

You are free to rewind the film with the knob.

I fell for an M6ttl this weekend. I was passing my local camera shop and spotted a mint M6, boxed with a Summicron 50mm (also boxed and mint) in the window for £970....

After having a very close look, and not being sufficiently wealthy to purchase it, I enquired if they would accept a trade in... Sadly they said yes (eek) so I swapped my Mamiya Rz67 and 2 lenses for the Leica + 1 lens, plus a small cash injection.

I miss the Mamiya already, but cant stop looking at the M6. I am almost 1 roll of Delta 3200 through it already so am quite excited to see the results. Theres a certain freedom going from a rig that you need pack animals to move about, to something so compact and light. All I need now are a Luigi case and 35 lens... better get saving!

interesting, the first film my m4 saw when I got it was a delta 3200 too! there's something wild about that, I even thought of maybe making that my inaugurational ritual for every new 35mm camera. 😀

Recently I finally caved and bought a leica. I've had the M6 sitting here for a few days, but the lens for it (a zeiss 50/2 planar) arrived today, so I could finally take it shooting this afternoon. I was having second thoughts about the huge cash outlay, but after taking it shooting for a few hours, I feel it was worth the money. It's a joy to use. Has made street shooting fun again for me. I've run two rolls of arista through it, will probably develop them tonight.

I have no illusions that it will make me a better shooter or anything of the sort (although I definitely prefer the 50mm focal length to the 45 on the himatic I was using), but if it makes me enjoy shooting more then in my mind it is money well spent.
