I just ordered a few rolls of hp5 plus, d-76, a daylight tank and a fixer. Good grief guys, this is all your fault, first a Kiev, now soup. Where does it end, where does it end?

Oh, I also ordered a Canon 4400f. It got good reviews at Amazon, photo.net and others.

Look for results in a few weeks.

I also returned my Canon SX100is. Digital is too easy, just shoot and shoot and shoot. Last time out I had both with me and the quick digital trigger finger spilled over to my Kiev and I shot too much junk without setting up my shots.

I'm cured of the digital GAS. Now if I can only dodge the RF GAS around here I'll manage.:bang:

ps: I kept my digi ps.:)

It ends with gen-u-wine silver halide prints, of course. :D

That's where the magic really happens for me.

Here, here!

In other words you forgot the Dektol, Paper of choice, developing trays, and enlarger.

Ahh ... another member for the 'Lodge!

Don't forget to learn the secret handshake. :p

I use my bathroom after dark :)

I think it all ends 100 years from now when some forum member says "damn, your grandfather was an amazing photographer! And it's nice to see Tri-X hasn't changed much since the old days." :)

Of course, if like me you have no kids, it would all end at a family gathering decades from now with "wow, who knew he had any talents at all?" lol.

Just keep reminding yourself RF GAS doesn't depreciate. Every Kiev you keep/return to mint user condition is a camera some enthusiast will be using into the future. 50 years from now, nobody is going to want a 10 megapixel digital. But as long as there are people to aspire to a nice user Leica or color dial Contax or a Ziess Ikon with a fusion battery conversion, the rest of the cameras can keep chugging away. You keep a Jupiter-9 in good user condition, smoothly focusing and stopping down, and someone down the road will thank you for that.

Kiev's are too easy. Real photographers shoot 8x10!

Ouch, I guess I left myself open for that one:confused: . I suppose there were those who said that an AE-AF-motorwind 35mm was too easy.

It's a personal thing, I guess. I have gotten some good shots with digital and some lousy shots with film. As they say, it's not the camera, stupid, its the person useing it.

I just wanted to be more involved in the process, that's all, so I'll be souping my own film. It's not a big investment so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the gentle nudge, sitemistic, I'll choose my words more carefully.

Well I think your efforts should be applauded.

Just remember - use an old towel for drying your hands with.
I used a bathroom towel an have been smelling of chemicals all week!

I blamed the cats. ;)

...

As a matter of fact ... :D

And don't worry, it's a long road from 35mm to MF, your own enlarger, then 4x5, all before you need to lust for that 8x10. Enjoy the ride. :D :D
