Leica LTM I think I'm addicted to LTM bodies

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I think the Barnack Leica may be the most beautiful camera ever. All the knobs are so complicated looking, but so ergonomic and well designed at the same time. The camera has a jewel-like quality. Everyone's photos are beautiful.

Here are my shelf queens

L - R : I to II conversion, IIIa, II, IIIf BD, IIf RD, IIIf RDST
L - R : 9cm Elmar, 5cm Summar, 5cm Elmar, 5cm Elmar, 5cm Summitar, 5cm Elmar and out of view 13.5 Hektor + odds and sods

Next these is a shelf with even more FSU RFs, I've got it bad

Dang

That's really nice looking, I wish I could keep my stupid camera shelves so organized and in line.. Every time I put different ones in a bag everything gets all frahoodled.

Thanks, but you'll notice I didn't show the shelf below - it's a bit of a mess!

Still better than my stuff, all of which is covered with shower caps right now because of dust due to renovations. Looks really funny... 50 cameras + lenses wearing shower caps. I always keep shower caps in my camera bags in case it rains while I want to shoot, but I've had to use them all up for this more recent demand.

Thanks Greyelm. Here's my Leica shelf, with 2 screwmounts: IIIa and IIf. (+ M2 x2, Hexar RF, CL)

Great stuff, Greyelm. I'm glad I didn't shoot the cameras in their display cabinet, it's like a warzone in there. Film boxes, Bakelite lens cases, never-ready cases, electronic flash units, remote releases, and a gazillion yellow Kodak boxes with filters and rings, and even a Bell & Howell Filmo. there's barely room for my cameras in there :)

RanceEric, it DOES look lonely, maybe the SOOPD hood is scaring the others off. ;) Seriously though, nice camera!

Tennis-Joe & Crawdiddy, I agree. These cameras feel natural in your hands when you use them.

Shower caps? :D Actually sounds like a good idea.

Hahaha that may be the case.. Thanks!

And the shower caps work really well. I also carry them in my bag

Steinheil is perhaps best known for their innovative Casca II camera (see Mr. Gandy's article here: http://www.cameraquest.com/casca.htm). Mine came w/the 13.5cm/4.5 Culminar, but I haven't had the chance to try it out.

MISH: you asked "a Steinheil Munchen Culminar 135mm f4.5 (is anyone familiar with this lens, I have never heard of this company but it is German and appears to be well made)..."

Well, I had one and thought it was just a run of the mill LTM lens and put it on ebay and people fought over it. The "winner" (as ebay call them) said he was very pleased with it and was using it with an adapter on a digital.

Regards, David

The thread is "I think I'm addicted to LTM bodies"

I think the fact that we can say "this is my Leica shelf", or "camera shelves" with a straight face is indicative of the appropriateness of the thread. :D

And now for the world's greatest paperweight...........

My 1945 IIIC K Chrome "Sharkskin" conversion and a 1948 MOOLY C motor, set up to be as a vintage styled sports photographer's rig could have been ca. 1950 :D

Enjoy!

Tom

Compared to many here, 2 screwmounts, 2 M's, and a CL, is a pittance, but it's fine for me.

Beautiful.
Wait, you have other letters (b,d,f,g) and numbers (II) missing from the family. :D
Yes, you need a model II of some sort (e.g. the IIf). Meant originally to be "economy" models, the II's are actually exemplary examples of Leica's fine mechanical art.

I'd love to add one to the collection too. But it's going to take a while to save up some cash as I've got my eye on another camera at the moment.

Car insurance? Who needs car insurance when you can buy another Barnack?

Tom, can't see a camera in your picture, is it hiding behind the Barn doors?
