just about anything really...

but i have 2 barriers to that goal.
#1 is that i'm broke and that appears to be the biggest barrier.
#2 is that i want to buy something because i'm in a slump creatively and new gear is a quick but non permanent fix for that.

when i get into these bogs i also get into all sorts of other bogs at the same time...actually, i think it's really just one big freaking bog.
but whatever, when this force field hits i lose energy, i lose enthusiasm, i lose the will to get off the couch.
what i do like to do is eat ice cream and dairy queen loves to see me walk in!

yeah, it totally sucks when all i can think about is a new lens or body...or selling what gear i now have and getting something completely foreign to me...like starting over...again!

why am i writing all this down and letting you internet interlopers see it?
damned if i know!!

When I get there Joe (seems often enough) I tend to sit back with friends, enjoy my favorite beverage (beer) and dream brother. Let the want become the ambition!

If im really in the downs, I look too dusty old shows about space.. the universe.. and how trivial any of this crap is. Get what you want, love what you love, and do it now!

I hear you, know that feeling.

Now being GAS free for about a year, just returned from the trip where I realized it cost me a sum of digital body. I liked trip more than pile of gear in the boxes.

But I liked hint for a roll of film. It helps to spend, but it can be used quickly and return couple of keepers, and will not take space to store or time to resell.

I've been going through the same thing for a bit. I decided to build a makeshift darkroom.. Almost there, if I'm not inspired to shoot, I might as well print the pictures I have shot...

Buying something as u say is a short term fix for your slump..never works in one run.. Better to just take some time away from photography.. Just use your cell phone camera if u must carry something. Sometimes forcing yourself to do something creative makes all the more difficult.

Definitely too many trips to diary queen is not a good idea but I should talk :p

Now you are talking crazy. Dairy Queen won't help and neither will the Blue Fairy. Just get out there and work it.

really, i am glad the closest dairy queen is 25 miles away ... :(

on a serious note, i'd suggest a change in light. got a place in the mountains? a lake? seashore? desert? early? late?

Go on a road trip. I like ghost towns and missions -- plenty of them here in California. In your case, I'd drive to Jasper National Park or Wood Buffalo National Park or the old coal mining towns (now ghost towns) all over Alberta. Take some landscape photos to mix it up a bit.
