The lighting really gives off an amazing mood for this shot. Love the cropping. It was a good decision. The woman's expression (both body gesture and facial) really help set the mood as well. Very contemplative. The figure in the background also adds another heightened sense of mystery and intruige into this shot. He really adds a great sense of depth to the shot as well. I love the contrast and exposure you used for it as well. Any lighter and it would have lost it's dramatic effect. Overall a very wonderful capture I think. A successful shot. :)

The lighting is good (especially having just enough, but no more, on her face), the physical surroundings work well and the shadows show things with the kind of ambiguity that sparks imagination and speculation. I probably would have framed it a little differently, but I don't know if that would have improved things or done the opposite. I like it.

Thanks, guys. This is my soon to be mother-in-law. The woman in the dark is my fiancee, who has been her mother's primary caregiver for the past couple years. Given the transitions that they will both be encountering soon, I think I was able to accomplish what I intended to when I saw the scene.

It s an excellent image. Not common, interesting: as jbf says the figure behind adds some mystery and choice of exopsure is very appropriate.
