and the new ones are 45 bucks, the rest are used at ebay prices.
i'm not spending 45 bucks for a filter for a lens that maybe cost 150 bucks.

i want new filters that are like me - good and cheap!

A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Or something like that.

I loathe spending money on filters, but consider that you spend it once and use it on several lenses. It should last all your life, barring accidents. Does $40 really sound so bad?

A few months ago I posted a similar request like yours, Joe, and someone jumped in and volunteered information on where to buy 40mm lens rather inexpensively from some camera store where they had a sale on filters, including the 40mm filters. I bought several ones for my Canon lenses.

i maybe should add that i rarely put a filter on any of my lenses.
i buy them cause i think i SHOULD have them, in case.

my therapist says it will pass...:)

sorry, yes, that's a name of an ebay store.
i think that's the one that had some 40mm filters but when i went to look there were none listed anywhere.
i was too slow i guess.

Joe: No, I was given a hint on an actual camera store, not on ebay. The filters were for all kind of sizes you don't typically find anywhere for sale. I got a yellow filter and a UV and a couple of others.
 
I just orderd 3 new 40mm filters(Y,O,R), 3150yen(about 28$ each). They were special order items, might be delivered in a couple of weeks.
UV and 1B are off the shelf (about 19$).
Lucky to be here in Japan :D
