Michael, nobody's methods are odd. Just like enjoying b&w, what looks good is totally subjective. I'm glad you found a great method to make your images sing!

I too love SilverEfex Pro 2. I like the 35mm film aesthetic. I find most digital b&w over-sharpened and sterile. I'm probably one of the few photographers who throws a lot of data away by crushing blacks and embracing strong contrast. I usually start with a film preset, then dodge-and-burn to my taste.

The best thing about SE2 is that it's flexible...don't you agree? 😉
 
Quite right David - I'm happy to blow those highlights and crush those blacks too!

I do hope no one thought I was telling them mine is the correct way. I get a lot of questions on other forums and I thought I'd write down how I do things.
