I'm thinking of getting an ice light. There's a few other brand products, any thoughts on these, not happy about the idea of spending 00 on an ice light 2

Will the alternatives work as well, what do you recommend

it's also called a light wand...
it looks much like a work light...very bright, battery powered so very portable...i bought a copy that looks like it came out of the same factory as the original for much less money. would be great on location with an assistant or a tripod (it can attach to one).
i have not really played with mine yet but i think it can do some pretty cool night stuff for lifting partial areas of a shot...can be powered down so you have several settings...

Light wand - the most strip-like strip light. Once insanely expensive flash heads, half a decade ago these used to be fluorescent tubes, now LEDs appear to have taken over. Much like softboxes and striplights they allow for fairly lazy and careless "professional" lighting - at the price of soon growing stereotypical or even tedious. For personal use or to make art with I'd stay off them. But a commercial studio that will only pay off if it can turn out safely decent images at a high enough rate should have one or two - just don't get into these until you have enough soft boxes and point lights, a policy of "all fancy lights and no work lights" will eventually get you into a stew.
