Identifying a 35mm Summicron type/model

My Summicron has no front ring. It is missing.
The lens is chrome, and it is made in Canada. There are no goggles.
Distance scales: black for meter, and red for feet.
Where would I find the serial number if the front label is missing?
It seems to have an infinity lock.
f stops go from 2 to 16.

Help?

While we are on this topic, does anyone have a 'spare front ring" from a smashed Summicron?

Isn't there a second place on the lens where the serial number is engraved?
Is this Type 2 based on my description of my lens?
 
I think that this is either a Version 1 or 2 Cron based on its look, but I am not an expert on such issues.
 
Hi Raid,

for all longer Leica lenses that I have seen (never disassembled a 35 though), the beauty ring also holds the front element. Underneath is only a thin shim/washer typically. So be careful that it doesn't fall out.

You could shine a strong light through the lens and count reflections. This is how v1 looks like:

Hi Roland,
Eddy Smolov told me that lens elements were not in the right order/position, but that the lens is fine now.
I cannot see any infinity lock in the photo of the V1 above.

It has to be the first version since it is chrome with min distance 0.7m.

Now I have two V.1. lenses; one "for M3" and for other M camera models. My goggled lens is in mint condition or "extremely clean", whereas this new lens looks heavily used.

You can swap the optics and keep a perfect non-goggled one :)
 
Yes, but maybe the optics are good in the heavily used lens, but your idea is good one. I better think this through.
