Moderately evil option 6: Gearhead's Delight - All those lenses that you would never use because it's too tedious to run a whole roll through the camera, have it developed, scanned - but thanks to Sony, you can finally feel like you're "using" them and upload those pictures that people were always teased you about when you showed them your lens collection. Bing! Instant street cred, and no cat in the neighbourhood is safe.

Hunting for Nex-7s :)

as to "using" I'm pretty surprised how the lens traits are quite clear on the nex---I've shot my czj 50/1.5 '37 on both contax IIIa and nex. Big difference is grain--otherwise very similar.

here nikkor 5cm 1.4 famous for crazy bokeh wide open and close:

since you like cats :)

I've used a NEX 5, and I couldn't figure out wtf was going on with the controls on it, so I'd put them in the p&s category. The nex 7 is an exception.

Can you tell us what is your definition of P & S cameras?

These days, a camera without a VF or dedicated knobs for shutter speeds and aperture falls into this category for me (i.e. any camera that you look through a LCD and have to menu dive to adjust key functions). I know, you got offended by the term P&S, but there was no need to... it's not a dirty term.

I figured out my Nex3 in sixty seconds, I use it in manual only. Turn the thumbwheel, it gets lighter and darker. It's a gearhead's delight. So I bought a second Nex3. When I need to shoot wide, I just use my exceptional Minolta MC Rokkors.

Strange, my 5N has an EVF, and there are 3 programmable buttons (one with 5 individual banks) that make changing settings about as usual as any of my DSLRs. The only time I have to menu dive is when I do things like changing EVF brightness, video codecs, etc., which is pretty standard on all cameras.

Which sub-nex7 do you own? Maybe you don't know how to set it up properly??

External EVF, not internal. These cameras are ergonomic nightmares with those EVFs. However, if they do it for you, then cool. I don't like DSLRs either. Too fiddly. Classic controls work for me.

I don't own one...I don't like them. I'd rather use a Fuji X-100 which has an OVF, EVF, and a dedicated shutter speed knob / aperture ring... like a camera should have. And, of course, I'm too dumb to set up menu cameras and that is why I don't use them. Sorry for having an opinion that doesn;t match yours. :bang:

for me the most desirable camera is the rolleiwide or rolleiflex wide in mint + condish!:D
Be prepared to shell out the cash for it!
