film is equivalent to 40 Megapixels. It says so at my local photo store. Of course they are going out of business because of digital ...

Yeah, you'll need a real good scanner to get 40 megapixels worth out of a frame of 35mm film too. That's if your output will be a digital print, or digital file for a client. If you are using a wet darkroom, then you're in good shape. 😉
