I just wanted to give a shout out to Igor at Igor's Camera Exchange.

Igor's Camera Exchange

I don't see him get mentioned here often but the things I've purchased from him over the last five years have been at good prices, and in nicer condition than his rating system led me to believe.

Just received a Canon FD 50mm f1.4 SSC lens from him that looks like it just left the factory, at about half the price of a similar lens from B&H.

If you're looking for older camera gear, you might want to consider his shop.

Best,
-Tim

PS: I have no connection with his business, aside from being a happy customer.

+1 Bought an unusual and hard to find item for an experiment. (Tele conversion on cell phone with Zeiss Mutar for Rollei 16). Didn't work out, even though the item was in good condition, as advertised, and fairly priced-- very accommodating with a hassle-free return. Would definitely recommend Igor's for other purchases.

I bought a Pentax 67 from him, but it came with a defective focusing screen. Didn't work out for me, but communication was very nice.

I just bought a mint condition 12504 Leica lens shade from him. He was about $70 cheaper than the next best price for the same condition that I could find.

Thanks for the lead

Dear Tim,

I'd never heard of Igor but thanks to you I have his site saved as a favorite. You're not getting any kind of spiff for this are you? :D

Regards,

Tim Murphy :)

Igor has been always good to me. Years ago, I bought an Elmarit 28mm from him. It came with the warning that it had some separation, so it was priced low enough to buy it and have it repaired. Then, in 2010, I bought a nice Nikon RF kit for a slightly below market price and it came with case and original lens hood. I sent a Paypal payment on a Thursday afternoon and the camera came in on a Saturday! I have no idea of what he did...

If you look for references on him you'll find those who say that his ratings are "optimistic", but that hasn't been my experience. I keep his site bookmarked and... I check it out often.

So, there goes another endorsement. :)

Igor's Camera Exchange

Bought a user v3 'cron from him a couple of weeks ago. Largest shipping-box-to-item size ratio of any product I have ever received. Lens is great.

As I mentioned in my original post, I have no connection to Igor's Camera Exchange aside from being a happy customer. I just realized that the collapsible cron in my avatar picture I purchased from Igor. It was priced the same as they were going for on eBay, but it had just received a full CLA from DAG. So there you go.

I'm also a big fan of Igor. i have gotten three or four items from him and have been thoroughly satisfied. The last item was a Summitar 50/2 that looked
like it was just made! Ecstatically happy with it still! I even called him back to thank him for it. It is one of my very best lenses.

Back in the "golden era" of camera shows, Igor frequently made it up to the Detroit-area. I met him there. Nice guy with a great collection of camera gear. Definitely can recommend him.

Jim B.

Jim, he still does from time to time.

I chatted with him shortly at this years Photorama.

Although he doesn't usually bring much to sell unless you request it of him a few days in advance of the show.

Dear Tim,

I hope you weren't offended by my comment about you getting a spiff from Igor because I was just messing around. I truly do appreciate the new lead for used gear, as I probably would have never found his site via Google.

I also appreciate hearing so many positive endorsements from fellow RFF members. In today's world it seems that we always hear about bad shopping experiences in seconds but the good ones seem to go relatively unnoticed? I am old school and greatly prefer to shop in person and see and handle things before buying. Unfortunately I really don't have any options for purchasing camera gear within a reasonable distance of me. Seeing a thread like this and hearing so many positive comments makes it much easier for me decide to spend money with someone I've never met.

Regards,

Tim Murphy :)
