rtphotos - I only just read your question at the bottom that you posted earlier, must have missed it before. I have a Summitar. Not sure of the difference between them all but I believe its a coated lens?? maybe. I could have that wrong.

Look carefully at the reflections on the front of the lens. If they appear blue (or goldish) in coloration, you have a coated lens.

Leica began coating Summitars from around November 1945 (according to Identifying Leica Lenses, by G. Sartorius). You can date your lens by comparing the serial number against this chart:

Whether coated or not, be very careful when cleaning the front element of the lens as the coating and glass is susceptible to damage.

Luddite Frank has it right when he says that this lens is prone to flaring, esp. if there are any internal haze or wipe marks. Best to use a lens hood, whenever possible.
