:(thank you for reading, any advice I will be grateful. Here goes, I will start at the beginning, had Sherry K do cla on lens, Oleg the body, all great for about a year, then I loose focus stop pin out shooting one day, desperate and at times a hopless search and thankfully DAG hooks me up with not an replacement but something that will work great, I put on all good, then I go out shooting today and when I go to focus the split image will not line up pretty dramatically, Oleg cla'd the body, Sherry the lens, Dag finds me the perfect fix, now I am commited to seeing this through, not sure if it is the body or the lens? the elmar is my only ltm so a comparison is not a option. I must add also that I am not the brightest mechanically. Thank you for letting me ramble hopefully in a somwhat coherant fashion.

just a shot in the dark but maybe when the pin was off the lens got turned past where the pin would normally stop it and now you are on the other side of the pin which would throw the focus way off (does this make sense?) Try taking the pin back out and see if you can line up the focus.

And four days later, what Mish says is very likely.
Remove the stop screw set the lens to infinity and reinstall the screw.
The helical in that lens is a simple continuous thread. That means there's only one start point for the focus when
it's being reassembled.
A standard helix has several threads to start at making installation in one try kind of hit or miss.

Mish and Landshark, thank you very much for your responses, I am determined to see this through. just shot a failed roll after putting pin in randomly screwed lens in focused till images lined up. I will now set at infinity and attempt again.
