Recently acquired Ikoblitz I. I hope I can have some fun in 2017 using this rig, but I may have to make an adapter to fit some modern batteries inside it as I believe it used two 3v cells which I am not sure are still available. If anyone has been using one of these flash units please add your experience to this thread. It seems that there is very little information out there on this type of Zeiss flash unit.

If the battery tube will take modern batteries, such as C or D dry cells, AND there is no capacitor, it will probably fire just fine on 3 volts.

Many simple American flash guns of the 1930's - '60's would use two 1.5 volt dry-cells.

How does it connect to the camera ? PC coaxial connection, or a cable release with sync on the flash-gun ?

Booklet shows flash attached to a 6x6 ancestor of the Ikonta.

I don't know about that one, but its successors needed a 15V "Anoden" battery. Essentially a stack of ten 1.5V cells in a cardboard tube, so it is not that hard to construct a replacement.

That was pretty lame of whoever moved this out of the Contax forum. It is after all the exact flash Zeiss recommends for the Contax IIa, the flash mentions the Contax IIa in it's instructions and it is mounted to a Contax IIa in the photo. Really lame.............
