I have a TLR ikoflex I . Everything works with the exception of the focus. Somehow something in the viewing system isnt aligned properly. I can't get sharp infinity in the viewfinder but I believe the taking lens is sharp at infinity. I put some tracing paper in the film plane and opened the shutter.
The mirror and screen feel firm enough no play or wobble, I have unscrewed the lens and that looks to be OK.
So I'm a bit puzzled whats going on.
Oh and the lens assembly is moving parallel.
Any ideas please?

Cheers,

Kevin.

Someone may have taken the lenses off to clean them and not gotten them installed properly.

It may be possible to loosen the viewing lens, focus the camera using a piece of wax paper on the film guides, adjust the viewing lens until it is in synch, then lock the lens is place. If I remember I believe that there is a small collar on the viewing lens that can be used to lock the lens in place.

I have never done this myself so you may want to do a google search to see if there are some instructions out there somewhere.

Alternatively I think Mark Hansen still works on these older Ikoflex TLRs. Give him a shout and see what he can do for you.

I agree with what is said already - someone propably took the viewing lens off and did not screw it back on properly. It is a PITA to put it correctly.
Another thing you could check is to see if the focal plane is correct.

Go to the following link and scroll at the end of the page and look at the last picture - that should give you an idea what to look for.
